Medford Victorian

This beautiful 1800’s Victorian Colonial was in desperate need of modern upgrades, and an overall restoration of its existing charm. The client charged us with the task of providing replacement windows that would not only result in significant energy efficiency improvements, but also maintain the look and character of the original windows.

For this project, J&C Adams provided jobsite support and design assistance. We supplied energy-efficient Andersen Woodwright Insert replacment windows, which were made to fit the existing openings. Using replacement windows also allowed the contractor to preserve the existing frames and casings. The flexibility of the Andersen line allowed us to match Victorian lit cuts with the simulated divided lite option, and provided low-maintenance exteriors with rich wood interiors. Modern accent windows were also added in the kitchen and bath areas. The overall finished product was quite dramatic—the customer was able to upgrade to low-maintenance, energy-efficient windows while maintaining the beauty of a historic, Victorian home.

Nantucket

Our work with the owner of this stunning island home began with the addition of a new garage to house an art studio and gardening space. Due to historic design restrictions, the window replacement called for an all-wood product with divided lites to complement the design and character of the main house.  J&C Adams worked closely with our client and supplied Marvin windows, which were manufactured to order and specification. Marvin awnings and Ultimate double-hung allow plenty of natural light to fill the space, while providing energy-efficient low-e glass.

Not long after the completion of the garage project, the client engaged our services to assist with the remodeling and expansion of the original house. Their charming 1800’s historic farmhouse needed more space and modern upgrades.  J&C Adams worked closely with the homeowner and the architect to execute a plan to add a major addition, larger than the original structure.  The goal was to maintain the character of the main farmhouse and maximize the use of the beautiful landscape. The Marvin® Ultimate double-hungs and Ultimate French doors we provided combined modern operation and energy efficiency, as well as top performance to withstand the sometimes harsh island climate. The quality and flexibility of the Marvin line, along with the expertise of J&C Adams, helped our client’s vision become reality. What was once a charming but small period farmhouse was transformed to a roomy, island retreat.

Winchester Victorian

This stunning Victorian presented a remodeling challenge. Every room seemed to have multiple windows with different sizes, shapes and divided lite layouts, which the customer wanted to replicate. The goal was to maintain the beauty and style of the house with updated weathertight, energy efficient and low-maintenance windows. J&C Adams worked closely with the contractor and architect to measure openings and lay out the custom lite patterns with the manufacturer. The Andersen Woodwright® insert replacement window was the perfect choice—they fit the look and character of the house, and offered the latest in replacement window technology. Using replacement windows allowed the contractor to maintain the exterior and interior woodwork. The Woodwright® offered a warm wood interior, low-e glass and low maintenance exterior and brought the house up-to-date while maintaining its original charm.
